Recipe for Slow-Cooker Meatballs
Ingredients
For the Meatballs:
- 1 lb TBS ground beef
- ½ lb TBS ground pork (optional, for extra flavor)
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
For the Sauce:
- 1 (24 oz) jar of marinara sauce
- 1 (14 oz) can of crushed tomatoes
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
Directions
Step 1: Make the Meatballs
In a large bowl, combine all of the meatballs ingredients and mix well. Roll into 1-inch balls and place them on a plate or baking sheet.
Step 2: Sear (Optional)
For extra flavor and to help the meatballs hold their shape, lightly brown them in a skillet over medium heat with a little olive oil before adding them to the slow cooker.
Step 3: Prepare the Sauce
In the slow cooker, mix the marinara sauce, crushed tomatoes, and seasonings. Gently place the meatballs into the sauce, ensuring they’re covered.
Step 4: Slow Cook
Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours. Stir gently halfway through to ensure even cooking.
