How To Grill An Avocado

July 24, 2018 by The Butcher Shop

Grilling Recipes With Avocado

A summertime barbecue is a perfect excuse to get together with family, friends, and avocados to have some good food and fun in the sun. This summerGrilled Avocado

you might be looking for a creative yet simple way to put some creativity and excitement back into your menu, and we have just the thing!

Avacado might not be the first thing you think of when you fire up your grill, but after this, it very well might be. Grilling and filling this nutrient-rich fruit will delight your guests and their taste buds without being stressful and time-consuming. Stuffing grilled avocados is a sure way to impress your neighbors and loved ones with both style and substance. When it comes to getting the avocados gorgeously grilled, here are the things you will need.

Avocados (however many you need for each guest to get one half)
Olive Oil
Salt (optional)
Brush (for the oil)
Grill
BBQ Tongs

After you have gathered your ingredients and supplies, here is what you will need to do with them in order to get the marks and taste of a perfect grill.

Get your grill to a medium-high heat

Cut all avocados in half

Remove avocado pits and discard

Brush the inside (flesh) of each half lightly with olive oil

Put oiled side down on the grill for approximately 5 minutes

Press down on each half with the tongs periodically throughout cooking (this creates beautiful grill marks while making sure the avacados are heated thoroughly)

Remove each half from the grill using tongs

Sprinkle salt to taste

Once your avocados are finished grilling, your filling can be as creative or as minimal as you would like it to be. You could choose to go a simple pico de gallo route by chopping and seasoning tomatoes, cilantro and onion. There are also plenty of summer salads that would go perfectly inside these grilled vessels and beautifully complement their rich flavorful taste. They can help to elevate the appearance and taste of salads and sides that have become boring or predictable.

You could also choose to use the stuffed avocado dish as more of a main dish by adding a medley of grilled meats or seafood. The creativity of it is entirely up to you. Just make sure that your meats and produce come from The Butcher Shop which that specializes in high quality, locally sourced options that are sure to bring nothing but the best to your table.
