Ingredients for Fried Frog Legs:
There’s nothing complicated about preparing this dish. All of the ingredients are simple, with the possible exception of finding the frog legs themselves. That’s where The Butcher Shop comes in. Call us to learn which exotic meats we have in stock and reserve your order of frog legs.
- 1 pound of TBS frog legs
- 1 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp of baking powder
- 1/2 tsp of dry oregano
- 1/2 tsp of black pepper
- 1/3 tsp of cayenne pepper
- 2 Tbsp of lemon juice
- a good quantity of vegetable frying oil
Instructions:
- Ensure the frog legs are rinsed well and dried with paper towels first.
- Prepare the coating for the frog legs in a large bowl. Mix the flour, baking powder, black pepper, oregano, and cayenne.
- Set out a large baking sheet. One at a time, place the frog leg into the coating and toss well so that they are evenly covered. Place the legs on the baking sheet until ready to fry them.
- Add 4 inches of frying oil to a medium size pot. Heat it on medium until it reaches 350°F.
- Carefully place 2 or 3 of the frog legs into the hot oil with kitchen tongs or a steel strainer. Fry for 3 minutes or until they become golden brown.
- Remove the frog legs and place them on a wire rack.
- Add a light sprinkling of salt and a squeeze of lemon juice to the fried legs.
- Continue frying the rest of the legs.
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
