As summer comes to an end, it’s the perfect time to start adding more fall flavors to your family menu. A great recipe to add to your meal plan is one of our favorites here at The Butcher Shop, Chicken and Apple Skewers.
A super simple dish to enjoy with the whole family, Chicken and Apple Skewers are a quick meal full of flavor.
With only three ingredients and some added spices by your preference, these skewers can be made by any level chef. All you need to get started are chicken breasts, sliced red apples, and some butter. For feeding a family of 4, you’ll want at least one apple and one chicken breast per person.
Since there are so few ingredients, you’ll want to take care to use the best quality products you can find. We recommend using fresh, locally grown apples for this dish as they are crisp and benefit local farmers with your purchase. You can also use our 100% natural boneless, skinless chicken breasts from The Butcher Shop. All of our meat is locally sourced to give you the highest quality meat with the best possible flavor.
To get these Chicken and Apple Skewers together, you’ll need a chopping knife, a few grill-safe wooden skewers, and either a grill or hot stovetop for cooking.
Prep the ingredients by giving everything a good rinse in clean water, and chop both your chicken and your apples into medium-sized chunks. Before stacking these pieces on the skewer, season your chicken to preference with spices such as salt, pepper, or specialty chicken blends.
Once the chicken is chopped and seasoned, melt a stick of butter to brush over the apple chunks. This will help give the apples a softer texture as well as create a golden brown color as they roast.
Once everything is prepped, you can begin stacking the chunks of chicken and apples onto your wooden skewers. Once you’re ready, they’re set to be grilled on high heat for about 10 minutes. Rotate them occasionally while grilling to ensure all sides of the chicken get cooked thoroughly. If you’re using a stovetop rather than a grill, these may take closer to 15 minutes to be fully cooked.
Once finished, you can take them off the grill and serve immediately! These skewers are so simple but so full of flavor. They’re great eaten by themselves, or with other fall dinner favorites.
