Grilled Avocados – Perfect Recipe

May 30, 2019 by The Butcher Shop

Avocados are a classic ingredient to add some cultural flair to any grilled dish. While most people are aware of the magical quality that a fresh avocado can offer to a plate, did you know that you can actually eat avocados on their own? Grilled avocados are such a tasty side dish for your juicy steak or if you are a vegan or vegetarian, it is a nice replacement piece to enjoy in place of a protein.
The Uniquely Great Taste of Grilled Avocados

Bet you didn’t know that avocados are technically a fruit. We know, it surprises us too. Well, with Grilled Avocadosgrilling, you introduce a nice smokey flavor that goes so nicely with something that is so often associated with Hispanic meals. You might be thinking that this is a given since grilling tends to add a smokey flavor to a lot of things. The truth is that, while this is certainly the case, not everything really goes so great with that new introduction to its overall flavor profile. No, some things really don’t taste good grilled. A lot of vegetables can be grilled, yes, but how they taste afterward comes up with some pretty mixed results. With avocados, you’re guaranteed an elevated response to smoking them to perfection. Particularly if you’re lucky enough to own a wood-fired grill.

How to Prepare Grilled Avocados

Just like preparing a steak, when you’re working with one food item as the main event, you don’t want to overwhelm it with a bunch of add-on ingredients. With steaks, you tend to use some seasoning or you might have it soaking in some delicious juices overnight, but with avocados, there isn’t too much that needs to be done to grill them to their most prime state.

Simply fire up your grill to start. Afterward, cut your avocado in half like usual and remove the pit. Coat up your avocado sides nicely with olive oil and lemon juice at this point. Sprinkle your pieces with salt to your liking. Once the grill is nicely heated, place them on and grill cut side down on the surface for about 3 minutes. After it is done cooking remove it and coat it up with the same ingredients to your preference. That’s it! Eat it as-is or you can put diced up tomatoes and onions in the center or whatever little finishing touch you want on top.
