Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and many people often feel pressured to get something really nice and do something super romantic to make the day special for their significant other. Well, what is more romantic than a beautiful home cooked meal? And just for the occasion, why not try out a great Sweetheart steak for you and your special person in your life? At The Butcher Shop, you can pick up quality Sweetheart steaks for you to prepare the most romantic and delectable Valentine’s Day dinner.
If you have never heard of or seen a Sweetheart steak before, it is a steak that has been butterflied into the shape of a heart. It is a perfect way to make a meal that everyone will enjoy, but also gives that sweet little edge to the meal to remind each of you that it is a special day. The concept of having a steak in the shape of a heart can seem a little strange, but it is great for making that other person feel special.
Finding a great recipe for your Sweetheart steak will not be too hard. Because it is a simple steak, you can easily have it grilled to your liking and pair it with some great sides. You can add all of the spices you like on your steak, or just keep it simple with salt and pepper. And if you want to get fancy, try this excellent wine sauce to drizzle over your steak when it is done:
5 tsp butter
1 or 2 (depending on if you will share) Sweetheart steaks
1 large shallot, thinly sliced
1 cup dry red wine
2/3 cup beef broth
Melt 3 tsp of butter in the skillet over med-high heat. Add your steak and brown on all sides until done to your liking. Remove and cover to keep warm.
Add shallot to the skillet and cook, stirring, about a minute. Add wine and stir, scraping up any brown bits from the pan. Cook until reduced by half. Stir in broth and bring it to a simmer.
Continue cooking until wine is again reduced by half, about 3 more minutes. Remove from heat and whisk in remaining 2 tsp. butter, just until it melts. You can then serve over your steak. You can then enjoy your lovely meal and evening together for the holiday of love.
