Easy, Healthy Baked Salmon

January 8, 2026 by The Butcher Shop

Quick, flavorful, and good for you? Easy, healthy baked salmon checks all the boxes. Naturally rich in omega-3 fatty acids, lean protein, and essential vitamins, salmon is a smart choice when you want something as nutritious as it is delicious. This easy recipe comes together in less than 30 minutes, uses simple ingredients you probably already have, and is foolproof – even if you’re new to cooking fish. Whether you’re pulling together a quick weeknight dinner or meal prepping for the week, healthy, baked salmon is sure to become a go-to favorite.

Recipe for Easy, Healthy Baked Salmon

Ingredients:

  • 2–4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • 1–2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lemon (zested and sliced)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • ½ teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano or thyme
  • Fresh parsley or dill, for garnish

Directions:

1. Preheat and Prep
Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the salmon with olive oil, then sprinkle evenly with the garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, and dried herbs. Add the lemon zest and place a few lemon slices on top of each fillet.

2. Bake the Salmon
Bake the salmon uncovered for 12–15 minutes (depending on the thickness of your fillets), until it flakes easily with a fork. Aim for 125-130°F for medium or 145°F for well done.

3. Garnish and Serve
Garnish with fresh herbs and serve immediately.

Tips & Variations:

  • Don’t overcook it: Salmon gets dry and tough when overcooked, so use a meat thermometer to ensure tender, flaky fillets.
  • Swap the seasonings: Try chili flakes, Dijon mustard, or honey for a sweet and savory twist.
  • Serving suggestions: Baked salmon pairs well with roasted asparagus, quinoa, or a fresh mixed-greens salad.
