Ingredients for Ever-So-Spicy Spaghetti:
- 2 lbs TBS Picante Bratwurst
- 1/2 cup water
- About 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 medium sweet onion, chopped
- 6 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 – 16 oz cans of peeled tomatoes
- 4 – 8 oz cans of tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 tablespoon oregano
- 1/2 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- ½ cup dry red wine
- 1/3 cup fresh parmesan, grated
- 1 lb (usually one package) spaghetti noodles, prepared according to package.
Directions:
- Heat water to a boil in a medium-sized pot. Add the picante bratwurst, cover, and cook for 10 minutes. Remove from the water and set aside.
- Heat the oil in a deep skillet over medium heat. Saute the onions for a few minutes until they start to soften.
- Add the garlic and the picante bratwurst and cook until brown.
- Remove the bratwurst, slice into 1/2-inch pieces, and return it to the skillet.
- Add the tomatoes, tomato sauce, basil, bay leaves, oregano, Italian seasoning, parsley, sugar, and dry wine to the skillet. Turn the heat to a low simmer. Allow everything to simmer for 4 to 6 hours, stirring occasionally.
- Prepare the spaghetti noodles about 45 minutes before dinner time according to the package directions. Always bring the pot of water to a rolling boil before adding the noodles. Reserve about a cup of water from the noodles as you drain them. Add the cup of reserved water and the noodles to the skillet and stir well. Allow everything to simmer for at least 15 minutes or until dinner time.
- Serve topped with fresh grated parmesan.
