Looking for an easy recipe to make but have a craving for delicious steak? Garlic butter steak bites are sure to satisfy your stomach’s yearnings and only take a few minutes to prepare. Add potatoes for a complete meal, or cheat and make french fries or tater tots instead. Kids also love steak bites because they can dip them in their favorite sauces.
You can choose your favorite cut of meat for this recipe. Any tender, boneless cut of steak will work well, like sirloin, strip steak, or ribeye. Just cut it into cubes. Remember that smaller cubes will cook faster than larger ones, so adjust your cooking time accordingly. This recipe is planned for cubes about 1-inch square.
Ingredients for Garlic Butter Steak Bites:
- 2 pounds of TBS steak cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- ½ stick of butter
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of pepper
Ingredients for Garlic Roasted Potatoes:
- 3 pounds of baby potatoes, cleaned and cut in half
- ¼ cup of olive oil
- 1 ½ teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of ground pepper
- 6 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons of fresh parsley, minced
Directions for Garlic Butter Steak Bites:
Before you begin, remove the steak from the refrigerator and allow it to warm to room temperature for 30 minutes. During this time, cut the steak into 1-inch cubes and season with salt and pepper.
Why should you let meat warm up before cooking it? Cooking a juicy steak is all about controlling the temperature of the meat. When you cook meat, you want the internal temperature to heat to a minimum temperature. If the meat is still refrigerator cold, it will take longer to cook the meat to get it to temperature. The longer you cook meat, the drier it becomes. By allowing the meat to warm up for 30 minutes, the meat will cook faster, and you’ll end up with a juicier piece of steak.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Sear the steak for about 2 minutes per side until browned. The outside should develop a browned crust while the inside remains tender. Work in batches to avoid overcrowding the skillet. Set aside on a plate and cover with foil.
- Reduce the heat to medium and continue using the same skillet. Add the butter and saute the garlic for about two minutes until fragrant. Remove the pan from the heat.
- Put the steak back into the skillet and stir to cover the steak with the butter and garlic. Serve immediately.
Directions for Roasted Potatoes:
- Preheat the oven to 400F.
- Add the cut potatoes into a large bowl and toss with olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic.
- Transfer the potatoes to a baking sheet as a single layer.
- Roast the potatoes in the oven for about 45 minutes to an hour until brown and crisp. Flip once mid-way through baking with a spatula.
- Serve immediately with parsley sprinkled on top.
